Socialing Company

EXPERIMENT

Where money and a public “we actually tried this” note are required. It is still not a startup. It is a bounded test of one claim.

When is it triggered?

 An idea is nominated when:

  • a closed or extended Slack produced a sharp question worth testing, or
  • Bench members ($6–9 tier) nominate it, and
  • Socialing Company confirms it can be tested in 30 days or less for $200–$1,000.

Nomination is not approval. Approval needs:

  1. A testable claim (“If we do X for 2 weeks, we will learn Y”).
  2. A named lead who wants the job (often not the original author).
  3. A done definition that is a page, prototype, event, film, dataset check, or landing-page test - not “build the company.”
  4. Budget that fits the pot.

If it cannot be small, it does not become an Experiment.

First 72 hours

Author consent, again

They can lead, co-lead, stay credited-only, or decline.
Decline ≠ kill the idea. It means this test doesn’t run under their name. Someone else can propose a different test later.

One-page Experiment brief goes public:

  • claim to test
  • why this and not a bigger version
  • budget line items
  • 30-day calendar
  • success / fail / inconclusive
  • credit list
  • IP default (see below)

Simple agreement (plain language, not a 20-page term sheet):

  • money is for this test only
  • leftover cash returns to the pot
  • receipts or a short spend log
  • Socialing Company does not take ownership
  • if a real product later appears, originators and documented Experiment contributors keep their credit; any company/equity is a new conversation, not automatic

Pot funds it

Slice of subscriptions + optional tips earmarked for that idea.
Members can tip the Experiment without buying equity.

What the 30 days are for

The team runs one cheap probe, for example:

  • 40 conversations with a specific user
  • a no-code landing page and ad spend cap
  • a weekend build + 10 testers
  • a public workshop
  • a physical mockup
  • a literature / data check that could falsify the idea

They post a mid-point note at day 14: still on claim, or the claim changed.

Standing meetings stay optional. Async is default. Lead posts or the Experiment is paused.

What “success” means here

 Not revenue. Not virality.

  • Supported: the claim got enough signal to justify another small test or a Slack reboot.
  • Killed: the interesting part failed in contact with reality. This is a first-class outcome.
  • Inconclusive: test was too sloppy or too small; say that honestly.
  • Mutated: you learned a different claim. That usually becomes a Remix, not a quiet pivot.

After day 30 - required public write-up

A short Experiment report, always published:

  • what we tried
  • what we spent
  • what happened
  • what we would not do again
  • links to artifacts
  • full credit (or choose anonymity)

Then the idea returns to one of:

Archive + report

Second Experiment

Second Experiment

Default. The idea is now “tested once.”

Rare. Only if the next test is still tiny and the last one was actually run.

Authors take it outside. Credit and report stay. No clawback of the $200–$1,000 already spent on the test.

Money and IP, stated bluntly

  • The $200–$1,000 buys learning + a public artifact, not a company.
  • Helpers are not employees.
  • Tips are gifts to the test, not shares.
  • Original idea remains the author’s.
  • Experiment artifacts (prototype, copy, data you collected under the brief) are usable by the authors and listed contributors; Socialing Company may keep the report public forever.
  • If someone later incorporates, that is off-platform. Socialing Company's only claim is: the archive and report stay up, and credits stay attached.

What does not happen

  • No “we’ll definitely ship a product.”
  • No Socialing Company equity by default.
  • No burying failed tests.
  • No unlimited budget because the idea is beloved.
  • No forcing the inventor to become CEO of a 30-day probe.

In one sentence:

Experiment is a 30-day, $200–$1,000, opt-in test of one claim, with a public brief, a public postmortem, author veto on their name, and no transfer of the idea to Socialing Company - after which the spark is either killed with honor, remixed, matched again, or taken outside.
